History and Mission

One of the most important missions of universities, along with training young professionals, is to cultivate a sense of national identity among them. This is doubly important in the fields of humanities, especially in the field of history. Studying in this field can lead to the formation of national self-awareness, which is the prelude to cognition and active action in the global arena. One of the most important aspects of Iran's identity is the Persian Gulf and the history of this international waterway. In this regard, from the beginning of the establishment of the Persian Gulf University, it was necessary to launch a history course at a university that is decorated with the long name of the Persian Gulf. Finally, in 2006, the history department of this university began its work by accepting undergraduate students. According to the aforementioned mission, in 2009 the Department of History of Persian Gulf Studies was established by the Department of History to deepen and develop the historical studies of the Persian Gulf. In 2012, the Department of History also established a doctoral program in the history of post-Islamic Iranian history, thus becoming one of the most important centers of history studies with an emphasis on Persian Gulf studies.

Equipped with new technologies, skills while studying, and understanding of history graduates' understanding of the need for team building for progress and success, this is not far off.
